Quality Technician

As a key member of the Quality team, the Quality Technician will be responsible for maintaining quality assurance processes, testing of products, and recording and analyzing of results gathered during product development and production to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Data entry into Lab Logbooks, Computer Databases, PO System and Lab Submission systems
  • Preparation of product samples for testing
  • Participates in all Physical, Chemical and Microbiological Testing of raw materials, finished products and ingredients
  • Preventative maintenance of the LECO machine
  • Participates in R&D projects and product testing
  • Assists in establishing / updating SOP’s and other lab documents
  • Verifies CCP's while maintaining daily and monthly documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Participates in Environmental Monitoring program (obtain samples from production facility to send to lab)
  • Participates in Sanitation Inspections and conduct ATP Swabbing
  • Assists with inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Inputs product non-conformance information and electronically track reprocess materials
  • Calibrates Lab and specific Process Measuring Equipment
  • General maintenance of the laboratory to ensure compliance with sanitary and safety protocol
  • Participates in plant in-line testing and water testing
  • Aids with resolving Customer Complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicates non-conformances, trends and compliance information to Managers and QC Lab Supervisor
  • Plays a major role in creating a greater awareness within the company for “Quality” and “Safety”
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Practices
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant education or experience in laboratory or food production setting is considered an asset
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Complete company required Food Safety and Quality Training
  • Participate in all required Health and Safety, GMP, and SQF training
  • Subject to a clear criminal records check
  • Must be able to work 10-hour day shifts & every 3rd weekend
